| DuPage Habitat for Humanity® received a phone
call from Habitat for Humanity® International in May, 1995, telling us that the Rubbermaid
Corporation would like to financially sponsor a house in DuPage County. Our first year and
our first corporate sponsor! The site selection committee went into action and found a
vacant lot in West Chicago to build a new three bedroom ranch house with a full 4 ft.
crawl space and a one car attached garage. The
building committee coordinated efforts with local builders, volunteers, and the Fernandez
family to finish construction on time. The weather on dedication day was cold and wet, but
the new Habitat home was filled with warmth and love as volunteers signed garage studs and
the family book. |
