DuPage Habitat for Humanity® was able to buy a lot in Westmont that was large enough to allow us to build a duplex and house two families. Groundbreaking took place on March 3, 1996, with Spring in the air and joy on the faces of the prospective homeowners ready to begin work on their new homes. The Quincy Street duplex homes are two stories with three bedrooms upstairs, a full basement, and a separate one car garage.

Several churches in the area came together to raise the funds necessary to build the duplex. The Southeast Coalition of Churches and the Westmont Coalition of Churches also formed committees to supervise and coordinate; construction, solicitation of building products, volunteer coordination, and fundraising. After completion of this project, both church coalitions continued working on other Habitat homes as well as preparing for the next building project in their area.
