Fundraising:
This year we have an Online Donation Page
to make it easier for sponsors to donate to each player’s goal.
This year’s fundraising prizes include:
Movie Passes and a Build Day at a Habitat site for the team that raises the most $$$.
A digital camera for the individual that raises the most $$$.
Using the documents in the Pledge Information Packet is a
great way for each team member to fundraise. The template letter is a great way to ask friends or neighbors for donations.
The Pledge Tracking Sheet can help to keep track of the cash and check donations raised. Please bring each team member’s
completed Pledge Tracking Sheet and donations to the tournament on March 3rd, 2012.
Here are some ideas for fundraising:
-
Use the template letter provided in the Pledge Information Packet. You
can send it out via snail mail or e-mail. The letter provides a donation card
for check submissions and also directs donors to our Online Donation Page.
-
Each person on the team asks 10 people to donate $10 each. This is an
easy way for a team of 10 to raise $1,000!
-
Ask a company for a sponsorship. You never know who will want to help. You
just have to ask!
-
Ask your friends at school to donate the change leftover from their lunch.
-
Host a bake sale!
-
Do chores or yardwork for family and neighbors for a donation.
-
Ask people to make a donation in order to be able to write a personal message
on the clothing your team wears for the tournament.
Rules & Tournament Format:
-
The tournament will be held in 2 sessions. The morning session will be a Fun Buster League.
The afternoon session will be a Competitive League. There are spots for 16 teams in each league
(32 teams total), so register early!
-
Each team will consist of a mixture of men and women ages 14-22. At least one member of each gender
must be on the court at all times. Teams should have at least 6 players and no more than 10 players.
-
There will be 2 pools of teams. Each team will play 4 matches in an Up/Down (“King of the Court”)
format in their pool. Each match will last 10 minutes. The top 4 teams from each pool will advance
to a single elimination championship round.
-
Rally scoring will be utilized. The winner of each game will be the first team to reach 25 points
in the game with a 2-point spread. The championship games will terminate at the end of 20 minutes,
regardless of the score at the time.
-
Games will be self-referee, a monitor will be present to help keep score and provide guidance. A
six-member team will be on the court and extra members are rotated in prior to your service.
-
T-shirts with different team colors will be given to every player. Early registrants get first
choice on shirt colors. Note: The sizes you receive may not be what you indicate on your registration form.
-
Prizes will be awarded for the 1st place team in each division, the largest individual donation, and the largest team donation.
