Fundraising:
Using the Pledge Sheet
is a great way for each team member to keep track of the donations they have raised.
Please bring each team member’s completed Pledge Sheet and donations to the tournament
on March 7, 2010.
When raising funds, you can tell any prospective donor that State Farm will be matching
the first $10,000 raised. When someone donates a $1, State Farm also contributes $1 to
DuPage Habitat. Thus, for every $1 raised, $2 goes toward a Habitat home here in DuPage
County.
Here are some ideas for fundraising:
-
Each person on the team asks 10 people to donate $10 each. This is an easy way
for a team of 10 to raise $1,000!
-
Ask a company for a sponsorship. You never know who will want to help. You
just have to ask!
-
Ask your friends at school to donate the change leftover from their lunch.
-
Host a bake sale!
-
Do chores or yardwork for family and neighbors for a donation.
-
Ask people to make a donation in order to be able to write a personal message
on the clothing your team wears for the tournament.
Rules & Tournament Format:
-
Each team will consist of a mixture of men and women ages 14-22. At least one member of
each gender must be on the court at all times. Teams should have at least 6 players and
no more than 10 players.
-
Each team will play a minimum of 3 matches in a round-robin format. Each match will
consist of one game, lasting a maximum of 25 minutes. A championship round will be held
for the teams with the best record in each grouping.
-
Rally scoring will be utilized. The winner of each game will be the first team to reach
25 points in the game with a 2-point spread. The game will terminate at the end of 25
minutes, regardless of the score at the time.
-
Games will be self-referee, a monitor will be present to help keep score and provide
guidance. A six-member team will be on the court and extra members are rotated in prior
to your service.
-
T-shirts with different team colors will be given to every player. Prizes will be awarded
for the 1st place team in each division, the largest individual donation, and the largest
team donation.
